Goals of Nutrition

A growing child requires nutritious meals. A morning breakfast, a full lunch, and an afternoon snack are served daily. All menus are designed to meet children’s nutritional needs. Meals are prepared daily in our fully-equipped kitchen and served in the classroom. Our teachers eat with the children, promoting good table manners and mealtime conversation.

Our menus are intentionally and specially designed to provide balanced nutrition with a variety of delicious flavours and wholesome ingredients that include some of your child’s favourites with a healthy spin and others that will introduce your child to foods from different parts of the world and different cultures  – appealing to your child’s palate and expanding their food experiences!

Our menu includes a variety of diverse foods whose contents are high in quality and nutrition, leverage on seasonal-availability, capitalize on fresh, local sources and are prepared in accordance to Ministry Guidelines and Canada’s Food Guide. We strive to provide menu options that parents will feel good about and that children will love to eat!

Allergies

We attempt to offer the safest and healthiest environment for all the children who attend GCELA, including those with food allergies. Due to the severity of many food allergies, we developed a strict policy stating that NO outside food can be brought into the centre. The children are provided with substantial snacks and meals, and therefore it is unnecessary for families to bring food into the centre from home. We ask that all our parents understand and respect this policy. We do make exceptions for families whose children have specific dietary requirements which can be discussed on an individual basis.
